Below are the most frequently asked questions about the Top Baiter.
The number one question is “How does it work?“. To explain, just take a look at this quick two minute video, that shows how it all works.
Both the Top-Baiter and the Mini-Baiter can be used for both surface and non surface fishing, catching fish such as carp, roach and rudd.
As they rely on the attractant surrounding or falling from the float, they are best suited for still waters or slow flowing rivers.
Both the Top-Baiter and the Mini-Baiter are a true all year round product that can be used in all seasons.
- Use the top centre eye to secure your reel line and hook line to the Top-Baiter or the Mini-Baiter product ensuring that the hook line length is well below the basket to ensure that a hooked fish doesn’t foul against the basket when reeling in;
- Bait the hook with your chosen hook bait;
- Fill the Top-Baiter or the Mini-Baiter basket with your chosen attractant to approximately two thirds full, (refer to the “fill guide” card in the packaging if in doubt);
- Cast the loaded Top-Baiter or the Mini-Baiter into the area you wish to fish (during trials we found that the overhead method of casting gave the best results;
- The attractant will float out of the basket when it contacts the water;
- Gently draw the baited hook into the spread of attractant and wait for the fish.
Fish safety and welfare has to be your first priority. Whatever method you use ensure that if the line breaks the fish cannot swim free with the Top-Baiter or the Mini-Baiter in tow. If you are still unsure consult your local tackle dealer for best advice.
No, you can use them just as a means of delivering attractant to your swim.
Resist the temptation to overfill the cage beyond two thirds full. If the problem persists try using slightly fewer and/or different sized pellets.
With the basket two thirds full, the total weight of the Top-Baiter is approximately 60gms, and the total wight of the Mini-Biater is approximately 30gms but the actual casting weight will depend on the quantity, size and weight of the attractant used.
In testing, overhead casting for the Top-Baiter produced distances of well over 60 metres, and the Mini-Baiter distances of over 30 metres. Actual distances achieved will depend on a number of factors including the anglers experience/technique, rod type, line, wind & weight cast.
Whilst the Top-Baiter and the Mini-Baiter product is manufactured from quality materials, it’s a fact that damage to tackle can occur, replacement parts are available. Please contact us for more details.
